Hawks

Mondays are pretty good when they involve biking and photography! One of the things I am grateful for is living in a location where the winters are mild. Having spent the majority of my life in Northern Illinois winter time was rarely spent out in the field.

When it comes to wildlife photography, patience, timing, and location, are essential for a good day of shooting. To help with the location aspect I've started biking around my local lake to quickly get to the usual spots where action typically occurs. Some days do not yield action shots but I am enjoying combining these two activities and look forward to continuing as the seasons change.

Today was a slow day at the lake but the hawks were out and the light was good! Perched shots are easy but I'm never ready for those fly away shots, although I'm fairly happy with these. Unfortunately trees were in the way to continue to track to see what hunting was occurring after this takeoff.

Enjoy,
